My (first) three versions of the Billie Sweatshirt by Tilly and the Buttons – a pattern review…
As soon as Tilly and the Buttons released the Billie pattern, I fell in love with it. I love to wear jersey and sweatshirts have fast become my wear of choice during this extended lockdown period we’ve found ourselves in here in the UK meaning that we’re at home in our cosy clothes far more than we usually would be perhaps. The Billie can be made as a sweatshirt or as a dress. I’ve not yet made a dress version but I definitely hope to in the future. You can order yourself a copy of the Billie pattern here. I loved the look of the basic sweatshirt pattern, but…

Sewing My First Two Myosotis Dresses – A Pattern Review…
It took me so long to get around to sewing up the Myosotis Dress, I think it sat in my pattern stash for almost a year before I finally gave it a go and I really don’t know why it took me so long. I think initially I simply couldn’t decide which version to make. I loved the frilly sleeve but wasn’t sure how it would sit under a cardigan (a very important question!) and while I loved the bottom frill, I just wasn’t quite sure about that either. So, after a lot of overthinking (who me – never!) and a lot of putting off I decided it was high…

Thoughts on 2020 and what I’ve learned in my crafting journey this past year…
Well, 2020 was quite a year wasn’t it! For us (like many others) it meant a new home schooling routine and working and staying at home for pretty much most of the year. Luckily I’m quite a happy home bird anyway so the staying at home wasn’t too hard but of course we missed seeing all of our family and friends so much. Again, like a lot of us I’m sure, the pandemic caused me a lot of anxiety and when anxious my mind is always calmed by crafting, and thoughts of crafting and planning more crafting so it’s fair to say that a LOT of sewing and making happened…

A wardrobe edit – the autumn edition…
Since it’s officially October now I thought it was about high time that I put a few hours aside to pack away all of my spring/summer clothes and get out all of my autumn/winter clothes. We don’t have a lot of clothes storage in our bedroom so I tend to do a seasonal switch over rather than keep everything out. I think this helps to see what I actually have to wear that’s appropriate for the seasons too. So one grey morning in October I decided I would use the day to have a good old fashioned sort out. I got literally EVERYTHING out of all of my wardrobes, drawers…

Friday Pattern Company Sagebrush Top and Fibre Mood Norma Blouse Mash Up
The idea… The Sagebrush Top by Friday Pattern Company has been on my ‘to make’ list for a little while now but with autumn and the colder months coming up I wondered how much wear I’d get out of it if I made it with the short, possibly cardigan unfriendly sleeve. So I started to think of ways I could adapt the pattern slightly to add a longer sleeve instead and that’s when the Fibre Mood Norma Blouse came to mind. I absolutely love the Fibre Mood Norma blouse too and it’s another one that’s been on my list for a while but I’d not yet got around to trying. …

Ten things I’ve loved about September…
One – Getting back to a routine… At the beginning of September we found ourselves thrown back into school days and although we were nervous at first about how we’d all cope (by we I mainly mean me, because I’ll happily admit to loving the extra time with the kids during lockdown) it has proved to be a good thing for us all that we’re finally back into some sort of ‘normal’ routine and I’ve felt much more productive for it. Two – Conker collecting… Every year since my children were little we’ve gone down to the river that runs through our town in September to collect conkers and I’m…
