Sewing my first Lyra Dress by Tilly and the Buttons – A Sewing Pattern Review…

The minute Tilly and the Buttons brought out the Lyra Shirt Dress pattern, I knew it was right up my street and I had to have a go at it. I bought the pattern immediately and then, despite my initial enthusiasm, it sat in my stash for a little while while I admired all of the other lovely versions I saw people making up online. The pattern is described as a ‘romantic shirt dress’ which I think is a great description for it since it has the more formal style ‘proper’ shirt bodice and then the floaty romantic style ‘buffet style’ tiered gathered skirt at the bottom. If you’re looking…

I have had my eye on the Carolyn Pyjama pattern by Closet Core Patterns for so very long, I’ve been stalking the hashtag on Instagram and ogling over all of the lovely pairs I’ve seen made up online. Sewing my first coat | A review of the I Am Merlin Coat by I Am Patterns

When I Am Patterns brought out the Merlin Coat in autumn 2020 I jumped at the chance to buy it. I had been looking for a pattern to try as my first foray into coat making for a while and I loved the oversized look of this coat and the slight cocoon shape in the body. The Pattern I ordered myself the paper pattern directly from I Am Patterns and it arrived around a week later.  This is the first paper pattern I’ve bought from this company and I liked the minimalistic style of the pattern cover with its gold backing and see-through front. Something to note about the paper…

Five reasons why I believe crafting is good for our mental wellbeing…

I feel like crafting has always been a part of my life. Ever since quite a young age, I would want to learn the crafts I saw my mum and grandparents working on and was taught how to knit, crochet and sew basic stitches as a child.  Since then, crafting has always given me a happiness and a peace, which is quite hard to explain.
