Ten things Iāve loved about Septemberā¦
One – Getting back to a routineā¦ At the beginning of September we found ourselves thrown back into school days and although we were nervous at first about how weād all cope (by we I mainly mean me, because Iāll happily admit to loving the extra time with the kids during lockdown) it has proved to be a good thing for us all that weāre finally back into some sort of ānormalā routine and I’ve felt much more productive for it. Two – Conker collectingā¦ Every year since my children were little weāve gone down to the river that runs through our town in September to collect conkers and Iām…

Mira Dress by Fibre Mood – My Review…
I have been eyeing up the Mira dress by Fibre Mood pretty much since it came out. I absolutely love the boho style of this pattern, it has a touch of 70s style about it donāt you think? I stalked the pattern for a while on Instagram and adored the versions that other sewists were making so I knew it wouldnāt be long before I had to give it a go myself. I have to be honest though, it was the gathering of those tiers that was putting me off a bit, gathering is not my favourite sewing task it has to be said. I was drawn to this Crepe…

DIBY Club Emmeline Gathered Dress Pattern Review
It was so lovely of the DIBY Club to get in touch with me and ask if I would like to sample and review one of their patterns. Iād not heard of the brand before but a quick look over their website and I knew they would be right up my street. The DIBY (Do It Better Yourself) Club aims to teach you to make your clothes better than you can buy them with a focus on getting the perfect fit for your individual body size and shape. THE PATTERN I was asked to review the Emmeline Dress, a fit and flare jersey dress with a variety of sleeve and…

Sew Over It Ava Skirt Pattern and Fabric Review with The Fabric Guys
THE PATTERN I have wanted to make a Sew Over It Ava Skirt for ages and when I saw this super pretty needlecord on the Fabric Guys website I knew it would be perfect for this pattern. I have a similar ready to wear skirt in corduroy and itās just perfect for the autumn and winter months. I chose to make the mini version of this skirt without the pockets. Leaving out pockets was not a decision I took lightly because we all love a pocket donāt we but I didnāt want the inseam pockets to interfere with the silhouette of the skirt in this fabric. I made a size…

2019 Sewing Review and plans for 2020
At the end of December I made myself a list of everything Iād made in 2019 ā I had made 40 garments. I couldnāt believe it, if youād asked me to guess how many things Iād made I never would have guessed that many. This was a great little exercise to do though because it made me realise how far Iād come with my sewing, how many new techniques Iāve tried and conquered (even if through trial and error) and Iāve learned to be braver and better at sewing with a variety of different fabrics. Most of all Iām so pleased that Iām no longer scared of jersey! I canāt…
