The Lighthouse Sweater Kit by We Are Knitters – A Knitting Pattern Review
Way back in August, I had some birthday money to spend and, since I was at a lovely ‘in between knitting projects’ time in my life, I decided to have a browse at a We Are Knitters 30% off Sale they were holding back in the summertime. I’m not usually a knitting kit kind of girl. I usually prefer to choose a pattern and then choose my yarn according to what I fancy at the time but something about receiving everything I needed, all neatly packaged up in a pretty, recyclable, paper bag appealed to me at that time and I ended up adding not one but two knitting kits…

Sirdar 9523 Cardigan Knitting Pattern Review…
I love that stage where you’ve finished one knitting project and are then ‘allowed’ to start dreaming about and looking around for your next one. Although I’ll often have more than one sewing project on the go, I’m a strictly one project at a time girl when it comes to knitting. So, I set about searching around online and came across this ‘vintage style’ Sirdar 9523 pattern from Love Crafts. It was the lace pattern that attracted me to it initially, I do enjoy knitting a basic lace pattern and I liked the fact that this one only had lace on the two fronts so you do get a bit…

The Mode at Rowan Silver Sweater in brushed fleece – a knitting pattern review…
I picked up this Mode at Rowan Brushed Fleece knitting pattern book from John Lewis in the sale for around £2 and it sat in my file of knitting patterns for a while before I decided to actually knit anything from it. I loved the look of the Silver sweater because the cable pattern looked so good but I put off trying it for a little while for fear of it being too difficult. One day, I decided to give the pattern a go and since I knew the brushed fleece is so soft I decided to go all out and use the correct yarn for the pattern. I used…

What I’ve been sewing and knitting in April 2021
Hi everyone – welcome back to another Sew and Tell blog and vlog. This blog accompanies my YouTube makes video and includes links to everything I talk about within the video. You can watch my April ‘Makes’ YouTube video by clicking below. Girls Loungewear Set I made this loungewear set for my daughter as my most recent Minerva Brand Ambassador make using this very cosy sausage dog print, fleece backed sweatshirt fabric which you can find here. The patterns I used were the Ikatee Jasmin Sweatshirt for the top here, and the Made by Me patterns kids jogger pattern which you can find here. If you would like to read…

The Rowan Beatrice Beanie by Lisa Richardson – a knitting pattern review
I first fell in love with this hat on a trip to the Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace in London back in October 2019. Rowan had a stall at the show and were selling balls of Rowan Sultano Fine yarn as a sort of kit combined with the pattern. The pattern itself is a free download so you really only pay for the yarn itself which, since it’s made up of a silk, mohair and cashmere combination, is a little on the spendy side but once you have a feel of that stuff you’ll absolutely know why it’s so pricey. I didn’t buy the yarn that day though…

Novice Cardigan Chunky Edition by Petite Knit – a knitting pattern review…
Every year I like to set myself a few crafty goals. I don’t always tell people about them , they’re just in my head – or in my planner if they make it that far! Last year’s knitting goal was to learn to knit a garment all in one piece, top down and to learn to knit in the round. Now it had got to around October of last year and this goal had not even been attempted let alone completed so I decided that enough was enough, I needed to stop being scared of this new knitting skill and just blooming well have a go… So I looked around…

Thoughts on 2020 and what I’ve learned in my crafting journey this past year…
Well, 2020 was quite a year wasn’t it! For us (like many others) it meant a new home schooling routine and working and staying at home for pretty much most of the year. Luckily I’m quite a happy home bird anyway so the staying at home wasn’t too hard but of course we missed seeing all of our family and friends so much. Again, like a lot of us I’m sure, the pandemic caused me a lot of anxiety and when anxious my mind is always calmed by crafting, and thoughts of crafting and planning more crafting so it’s fair to say that a LOT of sewing and making happened…

The Fred Cardigan from Lovecrafts.com – a knitting pattern review…
One sunny afternoon in September I found myself in that lovely position of just having completed a knitting project and therefore being able to justify to myself looking for another one. Love Crafts is my go to place for knitting patterns at the moment and I find they have some excellent free patterns for all levels of knitters. After scrolling through for a little while the Fred Cardigan pattern, pictured below, caught my eye. I usually stick to pretty basic patterns where knitting is concerned because I like to be able to knit in front of the TV in the evening and not be doing anything that requires too much…
